What We Offer

Comprehensive Eye Care
in Costa Mesa

From your first pediatric exam to advanced retinal imaging, every service your eyes need, all in one Costa Mesa practice.

01

Annual Eye Examinations

Our annual eye examination is thorough, unhurried, and tailored to you. Dr. Yamane evaluates your complete visual function including acuity, color vision, depth perception, peripheral fields, and binocular coordination. Intraocular pressure is measured, your retina and optic nerve are examined in detail, and your eyeglass prescription is precisely updated. We also screen for systemic conditions including diabetes and hypertension, which often manifest first in the eyes.

02

Pediatric Eye Examinations

Children's visual systems are still developing, making early detection of problems essential. Our pediatric exams check for amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (eye turn), significant refractive errors, and color vision deficiencies. Problems caught before age 7 or 8 are far more responsive to treatment. We recommend a first exam at 6 to 12 months, again at age 3, and annually from school age onward.

03

Prescription Glasses and Designer Frames

Our optical boutique carries a curated collection of designer frames and sunglasses from leading international brands. Our opticians take time to understand your face shape, lifestyle, and personal style before guiding you to the perfect pair. Lens options include high-index, photochromic, anti-reflective, polarized, and progressive designs.

04

Contact Lens Fitting

A proper contact lens fit requires far more than matching your glasses prescription. We measure your corneal curvature, evaluate your tear film, and assess your lifestyle needs before recommending a lens. We fit daily disposables, extended wear, toric lenses for astigmatism, multifocal lenses for presbyopia, and specialty designs including scleral and rigid gas-permeable lenses. Trial lenses ensure fit and comfort before any commitment.

05

Dry Eye Treatment

Dry eye disease affects millions of people and ranges from mildly annoying to genuinely debilitating. Burning, stinging, intermittent blurry vision, and excessive tearing are all common signs. We assess your tear production and quality, then design a personalized treatment plan that may include prescription drops, warm compress therapy, omega-3 supplementation, punctal plugs, or in-office lid hygiene treatments.

06

Glaucoma Screening and Management

Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide and is often symptomless until significant damage has occurred. Our screening includes intraocular pressure measurement, optic nerve evaluation, and visual field testing. Combined with OCT imaging, we can detect structural damage years before vision loss begins. For patients already diagnosed, we provide ongoing monitoring and co-management with ophthalmology specialists as needed.

07

Cataract Screening and Surgical Referral

Cataracts, the clouding of the natural lens, are the leading cause of correctable vision loss after age 60. We monitor cataract density and progression over time. When cataracts begin affecting your daily activities, driving safety, or quality of life, we coordinate surgical consultation with trusted Orange County ophthalmologists and manage all pre- and post-operative care at our Costa Mesa location.

08

Blue Light Protection

Extended screen use exposes your eyes to high-energy visible blue light that disrupts sleep and contributes to digital eye strain. We offer blue light filtering lens coatings and purpose-built computer glasses calibrated for your specific screen distance and usage habits, a practical solution for anyone spending extended hours on devices.

09

Red Eye and Urgent Eye Care Visits

Eye emergencies require prompt attention. If you are experiencing sudden vision changes, intense eye pain, a foreign body, chemical exposure, or new floaters and flashes, call us immediately. We make every effort to see urgent cases the same day. We treat conjunctivitis, corneal abrasions, anterior uveitis, and other acute conditions on-site and refer quickly when higher-level care is needed.

10

LASIK Evaluation and Co-Management

Thinking about laser vision correction? We perform comprehensive LASIK candidacy evaluations and connect you with leading refractive surgeons in Orange County. We discuss all available options including LASIK, PRK, and SMILE in plain language so you can make an informed decision. After surgery, all follow-up care is managed right here in Costa Mesa for your convenience.

Advanced Imaging

Optical Coherence
Tomography (OCT)

OCT is a revolution in eye care. Using near-infrared light waves, it produces cross-sectional, micrometer-level images of your retina, the equivalent of an MRI for the inside of your eye, in seconds, with no contact, no pain, and no radiation.

How OCT Works

The instrument directs a beam of near-infrared light into the eye and analyzes how it reflects off different tissue layers, producing a detailed cross-sectional map of the retina and optic nerve with extraordinary precision. The entire scan takes seconds and requires no dilation or discomfort.

Early Detection of Retinal Disease

OCT enables us to detect macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular edema, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, and retinal detachments, often years before you notice any change in vision. Early detection at this stage dramatically improves treatment outcomes.

Glaucoma Surveillance

OCT detects glaucomatous nerve fiber layer thinning, structural damage that can precede measurable visual field loss by years. By tracking subtle changes from visit to visit, we can intervene before irreplaceable peripheral vision is lost.

Diabetic Eye Disease Monitoring

For patients with diabetes, annual OCT provides an objective measurement of retinal health and can detect diabetic macular swelling at the stage when treatment is most effective, before any vision symptoms appear. It is an essential part of proactive diabetic eye care.

Who Should Have an OCT Exam?

We recommend OCT for anyone over 40, patients with diabetes or hypertension, those with a family history of glaucoma or macular degeneration, patients with elevated eye pressure, and anyone who has noticed new floaters, flashes, or visual distortion. It also serves as a valuable long-term baseline for younger, healthy patients.
